We came here after hearing so many great reviews, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. We ordered the Stir-Fried Beef Noodles and the Pork Katsu Tomato Sauce Baked Rice. Both dishes were tasty and generously portioned. The beef noodles had a nice wok flavour without being too oily, while the baked rice came out piping hot with plenty of melted cheese and a crispy pork katsu that stayed crunchy. The restaurant has a fun Hong Kong-inspired atmosphere with lots of little details to look at. One thing I especially liked was the cute cloth sleeves wrapped around the water bottles—they’re a small touch, but they really add to the charm. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. Looking forward to trying more of the menu next time.

We tried 852 Hong Kong Restaurant on a Sunday night as part of their Teochew meet up. Pleasantly surprised by the lovely retro Hong Kong decor throughout the restaurant. The HK milk tea mixed with coffee was spot on. The beef hor fun had lovely wok hei and was very tasty. Not a large menu but they do all their dishes and drinks very well. A big thumbs up to the variety of events this restaurant holds. Very community minded and everyone is very friendly. A great neighbourhood hangout in Newtown.

Went for dinner, ended up staying longer because of the board games lol. Highly recommend the Satay Beef Vermicelli Pot if you want something warm and comforting, and the Dim Sum Platter is a good shareable option. Love the Mochi Pineapple Bun and the pull is unreal, crust is so crispy. Also had one of their cocktails, all made in-house which is a nice touch. Decor is so fun too, love the retro HK vibe with the CD wall and neon signs everywhere.

A quirky place to hang with your friends with their own cocktails and board games. They have a Hong Kong inspired menu. We tried: - Mochi-Pineapple Bun ($15) - warm with crispy outside and soft chewy mochi inside! 👌🏻 - French Toast w/Vanilla Ice Cream (Biscoff) ($15)- yummy Hong Kong French toast, super crispy! 👌🏻 - Curry Fish Balls w/Homemade Shallot Pancakes ($16) 👍 - Chicken Katsu Mushroom Spaghetti ($25) : slightly more seasoning would be good - Stir-Fried Beef Noodles ($25) 👍 - Dancing Fries ($12) 👌🏻

If you haven’t realised the meaning of 852- it’s the country code for Hong Kong international calls. 852 Hong Kong in Newtown is a casual dinner with great vibes capturing the classic HK cha chaan teng feel with fun, nostalgic decor. They have a lot of classic Cantonese music CDs, which they could have played in the background over English song. The main dishes are all priced @ $25, and the portions are on the smaller side. You’re definitely paying for quality and atmosphere more than quantity. Haven’t said that not all dishes were equally tasty especially the noddle dishes. The highlights: the Hong Kong milk tea is legit — strong, silky, and authentic. Pineapple bun with butter? Perfectly warm and crispy. And the beef stir fry noodle was delicious — wok hei flavor on point. Just wish the mains were a bit more generous for the price. Still, worth a visit for the standout items and cool setting.
