For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.

I don’t usually like to be overly opinionated about Indian food served outside India. However, to our sheer disappointment, our first—and last—experience at Ashiana left us extremely dissatisfied. We chose Ashiana largely because we had very limited options for Indian or vegetarian food in Manly. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. My sister-in-law became unwell shortly after eating the samosas and pakoras. The samosas were overly decorative, while the pakoras appeared excessively dark and seemed to have been subjected to repeated deep-frying. Both were extremely oily and soggy. She subsequently began vomiting and had to make repeated trips to the bathroom. The generous sprinkle of what appeared to be “chaat masala” was peculiarly salty, while the decorative salad leaves did little to complement the food and instead left us rather perplexed. Indian cuisine is about balance, freshness, texture, and flavour—not simply decoration or an excess of oil and seasoning. I sincerely invite the owner and chef to take a step back and reflect on what they are serving and how closely it represents the essence of Indian cuisine. We certainly expected much better and

Having lived locally for years I am shocked I’ve never experienced this amazing tucker. We had the Bengali fish curry, pleasantly spicy sauce with tender and delicious fish. The Hyderabadi curry with chicken was also excellent, somewhat reminiscent of a butter chicken but much better. Naans cooked on a tandoor to top it all off. Amazing service as well on a quiet Sunday evening.

Food was amazing! Chef was very nice and accomodating to come out and recommend us food and they were all a hit! We had paneer butter masala, goat and chicken were all beautiful no not overly spicy (we wanted medium spicy). We came on a Monday evening so atmosphere was really good as it wasn’t that busy. Naan was fresh and like no other. We finished all the dishes really which I attached a photo for proof

Ashiana’s is a place that always delivers . The chef, who is the owner, always delivers . The staff are great . The food is amazing and great value for money. Tonight got home delivery and will be enough food for three days🫣. Indian food isn’t the “ flavour” of the month with all the “influencers” but if you want great food with great traditional service it’s a great spot. Try it..
