There was no proper reception, and the male virtual receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. He refused to show his face, avoided answering questions, and said to a lot guest and myself that we could leave if I was unhappy, other room saying if clean is double the price but there would be no cancellation or refund. There is no security, and guests were told the hostel would not be responsible for lost passports or luggage. There were yellow stains all over the carpet that looked like urine, which may explain the terrible smell. The room had no windows or proper ventilation, so the air felt stale and uncomfortable, like I was breathing other people’s exhaled air. The room was dirty, smelled awful, and the toilet is worst that public toilet and bathroom had a too many mould. I paid for several nights but left right away because I could not sleep or rest comfortably. The whole hostel place smelled so bad that some people felt like vomiting and could not breathe properly. Many online reviews do not reflect the actual condition of this hostel. I had a wonderful experience staying at Azourro Hostel. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Special thanks to Sofia for her kindness, professionalism, and outstanding support — she made everything smooth and easy. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

Had a wonderful stay at Azzurro Hotel Darling Harbour! The location is excellent—just a short walk to Darling Harbour, public transport, and many great restaurants. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and responsive throughout my stay (Maiden). The check-in process was smooth, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and welcoming. Great value for money and a convenient base for exploring Sydney. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

I would not recommend this hostel, especially for young backpackers, as I did not have a good experience there. During check-in (which, by the way, is handled via a remote reception), I had left my bag with valuables in the luggage storage area. While I was speaking with the receptionist, an older man went through my bag. There were several people around who seemed quite suspicious and, honestly, not like they should be staying in a hostel anymore. Another issue was that the door handle with the code lock to my room was broken. The room was essentially unsecured and accessible to anyone. Two people informed reception multiple times about this, and we were told it would be fixed quickly, but nothing was done. Yes, it’s a cheap hostel and you shouldn’t expect too much, but a basic level of security should still be guaranteed. For the low price, the beds were decent. However, the window was difficult to open, which led to a bad smell in the room, at least in my case. Some areas of the hostel were very dirty and felt quite sketchy, especially the basement outdoor rooms. Highly recommend this hostel, great value for money. Free meals are great, they even provide a vegetarian option each night. I had an issue with my booking and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Thanks Florence & Ali.
