Fascinating collection that gives you a deep look into the past of healthcare and medicine of Parramata. The volunteers are very nice to give you a tour guide around and the history of the establishment itself.

An amazing piece of living history! More than just bouncing off a page, it is something tangible that lasts over 200 years! That stands tall today and transforms you back to another time and place! Visiting live, the beautiful, and oldest existing building in Parramatta still standing made by ex-convict hands! To know this place was built by a man living so close to First Fleet times, and to learn about the people who later resided and worked at Brislington House throughout the decades! The Museum transports you back to what it must have been like working in the nursing and medical world, from the First Fleet hospital tents in 1790, to the men and women before us, who dedicated their lives throughout over 238 years of settlement to provide critical hospital and medical care to our colony and nation. For lovers of Sydney history, and the medical and nursing fields, Brislington Medical and Nursing Museum is a Must See! I could spend hours just learning and enjoying the history of the Museum and highly recommend visiting to everyone, especially those who love Australian history to come see. So come to Parramatta and visit, more than once, to admire and treasure all the Museum has to o

I had such a fantastic experience visiting the Brislngton Medical and Nursing Museum! I went along with two of my colleagues during our lunch break, and even in that short time, we were completely immersed in the history and charm of this unique place. We were warmly welcomed by Grant, who gave us a fascinating tour of the outdoor grounds. He shared insights about when the site was originally built (1821!) and how it has evolved over time, which really helped bring the place to life. One of the highlights was the beautiful tree at the front—it’s incredible to think that it’s as old as the site itself, standing there as a living piece of history. Inside, Fred guided us through the indoor exhibits, and his knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even engaging. The museum is packed with interesting artefacts and stories that give a real sense of the history of medical and nursing practices. We would have absolutely loved to also hear from Pat, but unfortunately we ran out of time due to our lunch break—definitely a reason for us to come back! Overall, this is a hidden gem that’s both informative and inspiring. The passion of the volunteers really shines through, and I’d highl

This is a wonderful little gem hiding in plain sight in the middle of the Parramatta district. I highly reccomend you give this place a visit if you are studying in the medical field in any capacity, love history or are into the paranormal/the macabre. Located inside a gorgeous historical home with a beautiful collection of medical antiques and stories to boot. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about an array of things wether it be medical, historical or Paranormal. I had a great time (Minus a picture frame falling which gave me goosebumps) and will surely re-visit, most probably for a ghost tour which is held by Dark Tour's every month so. Thank you all again!

First time here and was greeted by Fred, Rosie and Grant - amazing volunteers who have kept one of Parramatta’s greatest historic buildings alive. A must visit for everyone - from how the house was built to medical doctors and a place for nurses.
