The Central Yoga School is a recognised Iyengar Yoga Institute. It was established in 1998 and runs group classes, workshops, retreats, and yoga teacher training exclusively in the Iyengar Yoga tradition in Surry Hills, near Central Station.

Our qualified yoga specialists are passionate about the Iyengar method. It is taught in a considered and inspiring manner, with attention to detail, and instructions are delivered according to capacity.

You don’t need to be flexible to do yoga. The most essential thing is to be open-minded and willing to learn.

Excellent yoga institute with very knowledgeable and caring teachers. They pay close attention to each student and explain everything in a clear and practical way. I also value the fact that the teaching is based on the methodology of B. K. S. Iyengar and follows a well-established system. The classes are carefully structured, and the instructors are attentive, precise, and supportive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for high-quality yoga instruction.

Looking to take up Iyengar yoga again to strengthen my practice and hopefully realign and alleviate some of the pressure on my lower right back. I have felt supported and challenged in the classes I have attended for the Introductory Offer. James is a very experienced teacher, pays close attention to all in the class and provides individual adjustment. I am encouraged and have now taken out membership and will be attending classes regularly.

I was seeking a venue to master the fundamentals of yoga poses, and I am thrilled to have found it! The instructors are exceptionally skilled, providing excellent guidance and demonstrating the correct techniques for each pose.

I love attending classes with James, Jackie and Lorenzo at Central Yoga! The new space is beautiful and I feel supported and challenged in just the right way every class. Thank you!

The studio has lovely new facilities, but the teaching style wasn’t for me. Instructions were in Sanskrit without much clarification, and the tone felt quite sharp at times. $5 for mat hire feels steep also
