5 stars all the way! I have booked car rentals with Driveaway many times over the past 20 years and I was never disappointed. Some 6 months prior to a trip to the Red Centre. I had booked a rental car at a very good rate, including a second driver, no excess and unlimited kilometres. 2 weeks prior to departure I got an email stating that the local car rental company in Alice Springs had cancelled the booking - Driveaway then booked me with another company. Extras like the 2nd driver, unlimited kilometres and no excess were not included in this replacement booking, but Driveaway reimbursed me for the expenses I incurred for the extra kilometres and the extra driver, and they applied their in-house no excess scheme at no cost to me. All this was handled within a week of lodging the paperwork. Exemplary customer service.

Absolutely terrible service. Do NOT. I repeat DO NOT come here. I would give it zero stars if I could. I returned my car in Aussie on the 21st October and I still haven’t received my deposit back which is breaching the contract and now a matter of theft. I have been trying to get my money back by contacting them and my travel agency has also been contacting them and I still haven’t received my money back. There was nothing wrong with the car and I made sure to take photos to ensure they couldn’t fault me for anything I didn’t do. Tank was full as well. Receptionists didn’t seem to look like they even knew what they were doing. If I do not receive my money back in the next few days I will be going to the police for theft as well as the media. Let’s see them try to hide when they go bankrupt.

When I first contacted Driveway, I genuinely believed they were a legitimate company. Mayran spoke convincingly, and I trusted their promises, a mistake I deeply regret. If I had known their pattern of deception, I would have never been desperate enough to accept their offer. The moment my car was transferred into their name, everything changed. Suddenly, I was charged with unreasonable and bogus fees, including so-called insurance costs and being forced to replace all the tires, all while they knew they would never allow me to buy the car back. Even when I tried to repurchase it before the agreed time, they came up with excuses, insisting I “finish the term. They were quick to respond when they needed something from me, but completely ignored me when I needed answers or help. Eventually, they refused to let me buy back my own car, took it away, and never refunded my deposit. I’m sharing this experience to warn others, do not deal with Driveway or Mayran. They are not trustworthy, and you risk losing both your car and your money.

We recently returned from three months in Europe where we had a DriveAway Euro-Lease car. This was our second time using Drive-away and both leases were exceptional. The service provided when making the booking in Australia was excellent. All staff I spoke with were professional, helpful and friendly (real people answer the phones too! Quite a bonus). The lease was easy very to arrange, and when we arrived at the pick-up location (Nantes the first time, and Milan recently), there was our brand-new car waiting for us. Drop off was also very simple. Both leases were for around three months, and this was a very economic option. We plan to use them next time.

We have used DriveAway on at least 10 occasions, mostly USA & UK. Never had an issue with our bookings, always at a fabulous rate of hire and easy that you can deal with someone in Oz, even when your bookings are overseas. Highly recommend, and we will keep on using them as our preferred "car hire" company.
