For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.

Granville is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. I recently visited Friends Da Dhaba in Harris Park, and it was fantastic. If you want genuine, soul satisfying Indian food, this is the place. The thali is a standout. The paneer gravy was rich and flavorful, and the roti was soft and fresh. The parathas were equally amazing, offering a wonderful, homely comfort that is hard to find. Beyond the quality, the price point is very affordable, making it perfect for a regular meal. I will definitely be back, this place is a true gem!!

My eyes were filled with tears when I popped the first pani puri into my mouth. It’s been a long time since I had them. It’s spot on. Definitely one of the best I have ever tasted in my entire life. Love the location away from the row of shops. Quiet, clean, nice privacy & chill atmosphere. Also very friendly customer service. All in all, a pleasant experience. Will definitely come again! Thank you!

If you’re craving proper North Indian street food in Sydney, Friends Da Dhabha absolutely delivers a 5/5 experience. From the moment you walk up, the bright, lively setup already gives you that authentic “dhaba” vibe—casual, vibrant, and all about the food. We ordered a spread, and honestly, every single dish hit the mark. The chaat was a standout—beautifully presented and loaded with layers of flavor. You get that perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and sweet, topped with fresh onions, chutneys, and crunchy bits that make every bite exciting. It tasted fresh, not heavy, which is exactly what good street-style chaat should be. The samosas were crisp on the outside and perfectly filled inside—no sogginess, no oil overload. Paired with their green chutney, it was simple but incredibly satisfying. You can tell they’re not cutting corners here. The mains were equally impressive. The curries had that rich, homestyle depth—thick, flavorful gravies that cling to the food instead of feeling watery. Paired with soft, well-made bread, it felt like a proper Punjabi meal rather than a toned-down version for takeaway. One of the highlights was the variety on the table—it genuinely felt like a
