Recently enjoyed a week long stay at the delightful Hughenden Boutique Hotel. I arrived into Sydney pretty late, but the hotel had a seamless after hours check in. Grabbed my key and made my way to my room. Due to the hotel being situated in an older property, any room that isn’t on the first floor will require you to walk up winding staircases. I found this very charming and homely. However, I can understand for the elderly or folks unable to carry travel suitcases up stairs that could be something to plan around. The room I had was very small, but for the price I didn’t expect a large space. It was very clean and had all the necessities. I especially appreciated the extra blanket and space heater since I visited during the winter season. While the bathroom is small, the water runs hot which was lovely. I immensely enjoyed the hot showers at the hotel. Breakfast was also a highlight at the hotel. There are a handful of options to choose from, omnivore and vegetarian-friendly. Those options come with a regular or specialty coffee. I really enjoyed their chai lattes and flat whites. I was worried after reading some of the reviews but we may have gotten lucky! My family and I stayed here and although the bar closes quite early and there was a big crack in my TV screen, the rooms were clean and fresh. The bathroom was quite small but had all you'd need really. Although a better cover on the window and some better ventilation would do well. Staff were helpful and friendly and accessing after hours was made simple and communicated very well.

Sad to read of so many negative reviews of other guests. We stayed one night in room 6, which was fine for the very reasonable price. The hotel obviously would benefit from some heavy duty cleaning and improvements. eg carpets etc. Late access instructions were requested and received, so access was easy. Luckily, found street parking very close by. Enjoyable stay. Quite satisfied.
