This is my fourth time here (and my second Thali Tuesday), and I think the food has gotten even better. We enjoyed a goat curry and a chicken curry with a mix of other dishes, along with divine dessert. Everything was well-balanced, delicious and cooked with expertise and care. The portion size was very good. The atmosphere is calm and the music volume isn’t too loud, perfect for talking. The waitstaff are polite and helpful. My experience reminds me that I should come here a lot more often and recommend it to others!

Kolkata Social at Newtown offers a genuinely authentic Bengali dining experience that stands out for its flavours and attention to detail. We started off with two appetizers—the kachori and the prawns—and both were a great introduction to the menu. The kachori had a nice crisp texture on the outside with a well-balanced filling that felt comforting and familiar without being too heavy. The prawns were equally enjoyable, cooked just right and seasoned in a way that brought out their natural flavour without overpowering them. Both starters set the tone for what turned out to be a satisfying meal. For the main, I tried the barramundi curry, which was easily the highlight. The fish was fresh, soft, and cooked perfectly, soaking up the flavours of the gravy beautifully. The curry itself had a mild sweetness to it, which is quite typical of Bengali cuisine, and it was done in a way that didn’t feel excessive. Visited Kolkata social for their Holi Dinner special and had the most amazing experience! Everything from the food to the atmosphere inside and the lovely staff was absolutely wonderful! They indulge us in conversation about their food and in general! We had our belly full and didn’t realise how time flew! Cannot wait to come back again soon and try the regular menu! 🫶🏾💙

Authentic Bengali restaurant in Enmore. It is rare to find a restaurant that serves Kolkata-style Bengali cuisine in Sydney. The menu is limited but really has all the dishes you would need to choose from. Great appropriate background music & amazing customer service from the staff. Friendly, warm & inviting. Kolkata Social and Plate It Forward create pathways for immigrants, especially women, through training that builds real, practical skills. Service was awesome! Cute little space hence understood why toilet was next to the bar. Food was great but needed a bit more spice particularly the fish wings. Cooked perfectly though. Drinks were on point. Their cousin on butter chicken was excellent and their fish barramundi main went perfectly with their roti!! Fan of the social project. Went to Colombo Social the last time and they remain my favourite.
