I visited the Chatswood Donor Centre today at 1:00 PM and had a shocking experience with the receptionist. Because of a language barrier, I politely asked her to repeat herself. Instead of being helpful, she became aggressive and raised her voice, to the point where other staff members had to intervene. To make matters worse, while I was speaking to the other staff, she was making sarcastic laughs and strange noises at me. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I wanted to help someone in need of blood. Donating blood is a selfless act, and donors deserve a welcoming, respectful, and peaceful experience. Lifeblood Chatswood really needs to ensure their front-desk staff have the right attitude and communication skills for this environment.

I had a mixed experience as a first-time blood donor. Initially, it felt quite negative, but it improved towards the end. As someone working in healthcare, I understand the importance of donating blood, which motivated me to come. I also have a history of having thin veins, which I had been told previously by other healthcare staff. I followed advice to drink plenty of water beforehand and made a conscious effort to stay well hydrated throughout the day. During the donation process, Andrea was unable to successfully collect blood and decided to hand over to another staff member. During this handover, I heard a comment suggesting “ dehydration,” which made me feel upset and blamed, despite my efforts to prepare. I also felt uncomfortable during the initial screening questions with Andrea. There seemed to be some misunderstanding—for example, I was asked about fluid intake and initially thought the question referred to the past hour rather than the whole day. As English is my second language, I sometimes need clarification, and I would appreciate more patience and cultural awareness in communication. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I donate blood and plasma primarily to help people in need, and I’m generally not fussy about anything else — but I wanted to highlight the quality of the Lifeblood Chatswood Donor Centre. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, the centre is tidy, spotless, and very well organised, and the location is excellent. I’ve donated at a few Lifeblood centres in other states, and this one is honestly next level in terms of experience and organisation. Highly recommend this centre to anyone considering donating — they make the whole process smooth and welcoming.

I attended Lifeblood Chatswood just before Christmas to respond to calls for donations during the holiday period. I went in 1 hour early because I haven't donated in NSW, and not for a long time. I was expecting to come back at my booked time, but Jocelyn at reception processed my booking and said I might get in early if I waited. The facility is very welcoming and stocked with a range of complimentary snacks and drinks for customers comfort and wellbeing. Even the man emptying the bin asked if there was anything I needed. When I was called, Cate was extremely professional and attentive. The system has changed since my last donations, and because of an illness in my early teens, I was only able to provide a blood sample for testing. Every part of the process was focused on providing excellent customer support and comfort. I can't recommend the service highly enough. I hope my test results allow me to resume making full blood donations as soon as possible.
