For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.
Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 amβ3 pm. Hours in Australia do change around public holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (02) 9157 1488. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a mobile. Its website is mamamulan.com.au, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 1,382 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Chatswood is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Getting around Chatswood is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy centres, and most suburban shops have their own car park. Public transport and ride-share apps such as Uber and DiDi operate across New South Wales's larger cities.

We went for dinner on a Saturday night, so needless to say, things were a little busy. As we were a party of 2, we could not really order a lot so we tried out the teriyaki beef, pumpkin spinach tofu, crab meat crispy noodles n plain steamed rice. We also had oolong rose tea for 2 . We had been to Mama mulan a few times, and this was by far the least pleasing. First, I have been a fan of oolong tea and the tea we ordered tasted nothing but rose. The tea flavour was extremely mild. Teriyaki beef was on the sweet side and the portion was tiny. The tofu was a delight, but only for the few slices on top, the rest were all bathed in the pumpkin sauce, which unfortunately rendered all the crispy tofu skin soggy. The pumpkin sauce was in my humble opinion, tasted like some canned pumpkin soup concentrate, it was an inventive fusion idea, but bad execution. Perhaps, the worst is the crab meat crispy noodles. The crab meat sauce was a little too heavy handed with corn starch and the crispy noodles was fried in a ball and was so hard and difficult to sever and mix with the already thickened sauce. It was just a dinner with a huge room for improvement. Service wise, our lady server was very

Been here a few times with friends and decided to take my family here for lunch. Very much like my previous visits the food is great and the service is great. The bbq duck spring roll was our favourite. Itβs has a nice duck flavour with crispy spring roll skin. The fried rice and dim sum platter are nicely done as well. Although there is abit of await for our table but good things there are plenty of seats for you while you wait. Staff are great and attentive, going around filling glass of water without asking. Overall my family had a great lunch here. Price is on the higher end but quality of the food and experience makes it acceptable. I would definitely recommended this place for others to try.

Weβve been coming to Mama Mulan for ages but Iβve honestly just been too lazy to leave a review until now (sorry for the bad photos, we usually just eat straight away!). βItβs definitely on the pricier side for Chatswood, but the food and the lovely, relaxing vibe make it completely worth it. A few highlights from our usual order: βThe Crab Meat & Fish Roe Fried Rice is so delicate and loaded with roe. Itβs not super salty or packed with MSG at allβhonestly feels like they might not even use it. The wok hei is perfectly balanced with just a nice hint of ginger. βThe Wok-Fried Wagyu Beef (with mushrooms, cashews, and teriyaki) is a massive hit with the kids. The wagyu is actually good quality and super tender, not chewy at all, and the sauce is great. Love the mushrooms and peas in it too. βYou also have to try the Dim Sum. You can tell they actually have a shifu making it fresh in-house, itβs not that frozen, mass-produced factory stuff. The dumplings are always my absolute favorite. Making the skins thin is an artβbad ones are always way too thick and doughy, but Mulan's are beautifully thin. βOverall, it's just really good, consistent food. Highly recommend if you want a nic

I visited this restaurant again tonight as I had a very positive experience previously and genuinely enjoyed the food. However, this visit was extremely disappointing due to one particular staff member. My friends and I arrived around 8pm and were still deciding what to order, as we are not very familiar with Chinese dishes. When we politely asked for a few more minutes, one staff member responded in a noticeably impatient and unfriendly tone, repeatedly rushing us and stating that the kitchen was closing soon. While I understand restaurants have last orders and closing procedures, the way it was communicated felt unnecessary, unprofessional, and uncomfortable. Throughout the interaction, this same staff memberβs tone, facial expressions, and attitude were consistently dismissive, which made us feel unwelcome as customers. Later, we found a short hair in one of the chicken dishes. We calmly informed the same staff member, simply to make them aware of the issue. Instead of any apology or acknowledgment, we were met with a dismissive response asking whether we wanted a replacement or to cancel the dish, again without any apology or concern shown. At that point, we no longer felt

We've been going to this place for many years (when we lived closer) and just only recently dined again. The menu is Cantonese cuisine and the flavours and dishes are just as we remembered and now I recall why we keep coming back. The highlight for me was the spinach tofu and our family favourites - the sweet and sour eggplant. They also have yum cha, but more pricey than your regular place as they present themselves as an upscale Asian restaurant. The venue itself is classy and everything we ordered was devoured.
