So we visited Manly in Jan this year. LOVED IT! As we got off the boat we saw a visitors help centre and thought it was a great spot to learn where to go. What shocked me and my dad was what happened in there. The older guy we spoke to, if he had just pointed us to good spots like the other people working there would have been fine, but in and amongst other sexist comments about women he made, he also told us why Manly was much better than Bondi β€œas it doesn’t have all the Jews and Russians” why Asian women love trying to date him and when we said we were from London he said β€œahh I heard it’s not soo good there anymore cuz of all the Muslims and immigrants”…I wish I was making this up 🫠 He said he was retired and a volunteer there so wasn’t getting paid and so just got to talk to people while the women did all the admin stuff. I just don’t understand how someone who works at a literal tourist help centre with people from all over the world coming in can say such things πŸ™„ you can ask him to not work there right? He’s a volunteer and openly saying this stuff to the people coming through the door. We went to Bondi and it was also fab! And lovely Manly…was just the weirdest interact

The staff at the Manly Visitor Info Centre were very helpful in guiding me to destination. They recommended a scenic route via a coastal footpath to North Harbour Reserve. It was the highlight of my visit to Manly. I even saw a kookabura. Thanks for the advice and map.

Got off the ferry and went to info centre to ask what to do. Very much appreciated advice from Jane - to catch bus out to North Head and do walks returning via Shelly Beach and Manly Beach. Perfect plan. More downhill walking for older folk.
