The care I received in the delivery, intensive care and maternity unit during an extremely complicated (my own health) birth was above and beyond. As a medical professional myself I was blown away at the standard of care, well above expectations. I credit the personnel in this hospital in saving my life. The special care nursery staff were exceptional, knowledgeable and most of all kind and caring throughout one of the most traumatic experiences of our families life. I will forever hold the Mater Hospital and all it's staff close to my heart. Special shoutout to: in ICU: Yvonne, Julie, the beautiful Nepalese night nurse whose name escapes me, Dr Oleg, Dr Ben. Delivery and maternity: Amy, Kristin, Ivette, Debbie and Deb, Hayley (pure sunshine), Melissa, Emily, Claudia. Special Care: Alice, Alison, Lucy, Monica. All of these wonderful nurses and midwives are deserving of OAM's.

I had my first baby at Mater Hospital, and overall the experience was quite disappointing. However, I did meet two wonderful staff members who truly put patients first, and Iβm very grateful to them. One was Karen from the Newborn Special Nursery, and the other was the paediatrician Bronwyn. They were both caring, professional, and genuinely compassionate. Aside from that, I had several concerns: 1. The management in the maternity department was very disorganised, especially some of the management staff. I was given inconsistent information multiple times, and they seemed unclear about their own hospital policies. 2. As for the midwives, I never saw my midwife again following the day of delivery during my hospital stay. 3. There was an extremely high turnover of nurses. During my stay, I saw at least 15 different nurses. 4. During my babyβs stay in the Special Nursery for over a week, he was never given a bath even once. Karen was the only person who took the initiative to properly help bathe my baby when she first met him. Thank you Karen. I appreciate the few staff members who genuinely cared, but unfortunately the overall experience did not meet the standard I expected.

As a patient, I found the hospital staff to be very caring and attentive. The environment was comfortable, clean, and well-organized. Everything felt smooth and well-managed, which made me feel well taken care of during my visit. Doctor Steven Dubenec are also very professional. There is no need to worry about meals, as everything is fully provided and well taken care of here.

I just had surgery yesterday at the Mater. All the hospital staff I encountered were lovely and helpful. Karen, Laura and Hana in the ward took such great care of me overnight and throughout the day. And Laura in recovery put up with me waking up from surgery and talking non stop. Room service was tasty and so handy to be able to order whenever you're hungry.

My experience at Mater Hospital was truly amazing. Every single staff member, from admission through to recovery, was incredibly warm, kind, and supportive. Their care and professionalism made what could have been a very stressful experience feel calm and reassuring. I would especially like to say a big thank you to the nurse Tara, who was the first nurse with me straight after my surgery. Her ability to cheer me up, reassure me, and make me feel comfortable during such a vulnerable moment meant so much. She brought such a positive energy to the room and went above and beyond to make sure I was okay. I am so grateful for the care I received and for the wonderful team at Mater Hospital who made my experience such a positive one. Thank you all for the incredible work you do every day. π
