My family used Nepean Valley Funerals for my mother’s funeral in 2016. My father was the person who chose the funeral home and handled the overall arrangements. While I had some involvement in things like the service outline/order of service booklet and choosing songs, I was not the person responsible for the overall decision-making or dealing directly with how the funeral home managed the process. We used this funeral home again for my brother’s funeral in 2023, and this was when I became directly involved in the arrangements. Based on my experience, I was very unhappy with the overall service and the way we were treated. While the basic logistics of the funeral itself were carried out, my main concern is the conduct, communication and attitude of Jim, who is listed on the business’s website as one of its funeral directors. The business’s website describes its funeral directors as compassionate and states that every family receives the highest level of traditional care, dignity, and respect. From my first call to Nepean Valley Funerals Jim was extremely helpful, I live interstate and needed to make arrangements for my brother remotely. It was a difficult situation many levels Jim went above and beyond my expectations ,he was there to guide me through every problem. We couldn't have been happier with Jim and his team from Nepean Valley Funerals. They handled my mum's funeral preparations expertly and with compassion and reassurance. Nothing was too much for them and even when a rain event caused a power outage they went above and beyond to ensure the service ran smoothly. When my husband unexpectedly passed away recently, I was devastated but Jim handled my grief with compassion and professional care. He arranged our funeral service in a loving family atmosphere. After the unexpected loss of our beloved mother, Jenny, we were told there was only one place to go - Nepean Valley Funerals. From the very first call with Jim to the moment we stepped into the meeting room, I knew we were in safe hands. Everything about this process was foreign to me – I had never had to plan a funeral for a loved one before. Jim was warm and welcoming, understanding that we were going through the worst time of our lives. He made everything so much easier for us. He did what many others don’t – he listened to us, all of us. Over the next week, I had Jim on speed dial. There are so many things to consider when planning a funeral, and Jim knew exactly what we wanted. He used all of his contacts to ensure the vision we had for Mum was executed perfectly, just as she would have wanted. We even had a custom casket designed because Mum was an avid Panthers fan. Let me tell you, it was way beyond our expectations. The day of the funeral ran like a dream. Jim made suggestions that I would never have thought of, like taking a photo of the casket in the church before everyone came in.
