This is the first 3 star review I have left - I generally only leave a review if I can give 5 stars - but in this instance I need to leave the review. To start on a positive note, It is in a stunning location in an iconic building, adjacent to some of the best restaurants in Sydney. The industrial style and intended quirkiness are beautiful. We found the room to be clean and in good condition. But this feels like a business under stress - either that, or management don't have high standards. Everything is a bit run down and unmaintained. This is especially evident from the pool table that has three separate tears to the felt. This is not new damage, so the decision has been made not to repair it. Also, I was told that the Navy side (where we booked) was closed for renovations. From the bar (level 2) you can see that the corridor of the first floor of rooms (level 3) on the Navy side is stacked with mattresses - I can't believe that such a chic place would have this visible from the main hub of their establishment. Did we enjoy our visit? Yes, absolutely. But these prices should go hand in hand with high standards. With a bit more care and attention this place could be great.

We had our small wedding reception at the Ovolo on today last year in 2025. (Sorry we really forgot to put in our good words!) It was an amazing experience and we’re so thankful for all the help the staff gave us. We didn’t have a wedding planner and the hotel staff help put up the welcoming banner and decorated with flowers and lights. The long tables also looked stunning and staff arranged the lighting and put the supplied flowers on. We almost DIY the whole reception and we received really warm and friendly help from the hotel. They were managing our alcohol consumption responsibly and served the wedding cake beautifully. We felt they respected us even it was just a 35 ppl reception. The venue was the “kitchen” and the vibe was great at night with all the lighting. The interior is also quite photogenic and we had some “magazine” feel photo shoots there in the morning of the day as it was raining outside we couldn’t do it outside. Overall it is probably THE BEST venue for small reception, especially if you’re after a more relaxed and warm house party like vibe. P.s. there are various types of seating places for guests and the whole environment is chic and fun.

We had a long stay over Christmas and New Year during our visit to Australia. What a fantastic stay!! Location - perfect on Cowper Wharf - 2 minutes from the Botanical Gardens on one side (this was our favourite morning walk), the Navy shipyard on the otherside. 15 mins walk from the Cathedral and the city centre. 10 mins from Potts Point and only 5 mins in a taxi from Surry Hills and Circular Quay. Rooms - very spacious, clean with everything you need - mini bar, kettle, ironing board etc. The bed was very large and comfortable. We had a bath and stand alone shower which was ideal (room 312) Staff - all were excellent, attentive (hello from everyone you walked past), Front Desk very helpful, Cleaning very good and Breakfast and Bar staff really good. Can't mention all by name, but 2 really looked after me with special coffee needs!! Ana with her Freddo Espresso and Liam with his Mont Blanc - thanks guys. Overall a faultless stay and can highly recommend The Ovolo Woolloomooloo.
