For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.

Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 3–11 pm. Hours in Australia do change around public holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Freshwater is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Australian addresses list the street number, suburb, state abbreviation and postcode, and Freshwater follows the same pattern; a number like 2/411 means unit 2 at number 411. Love this place! Aways the first place i think of to go for a drink and a feed. The staff are the best, they are the most friendliest people and are great at what they do, especially the cocktails! Whether it's empty or busy it always has a great atmosphere. Keep doing what you do guys!

Having lived in the area for seven years, we’ve wanted to love this place as our primary local. The setting is undeniably great, and they truly serve the best veggie roast in Sydneyβ€”it’s the main reason we kept coming back. We even rallied behind them during Covid, ordering home deliveries and buying their glassware to show our support when things were tough. However, the service has been consistently disappointing in one specific way: recognition. Despite being regulars for nearly a decade, every visit felt like our first. We never walked in and felt a sense of "welcome back" or any acknowledgement of our return custom. To be clear, we aren't looking to be anyone's best friend; we just value a friendly, welcoming environment where local loyalty feels mutual. It’s particularly frustrating because it’s been the same staff for years, so it isn't a case of high turnover or new faces. It just lacks that "local vibe" where you feel looked after as a community member. It’s a shame, because with such high-quality food and a great location, it could be a truly special neighborhood spot. As it stands, it’s a 3-star experienceβ€”great on the plate, but cold at the door.

We are locals and we come here every Friday and we have a bowl of chips and the fish tacos generally plus a cocktail or two and the Freshie lager beer. The staff are incredibly friendly and it has a wonderful atmosphere. Service is fast. We love it.

I can't extoll the virtues of this place enough. Do I need to say any more than I left the venue almost desperate to give them a tip for what a great night they put on. You know any place is worth visiting if the staff love their job and are damn good at it. My recommendation is have the moreish and generous beef burrito. Then enjoy the rest of your evenings on one or more of the scrumptious cocktails they have (margarita was solid but their lemon meringue I could drink once a week for the rest of my life and die a happy man) or the surprising array of quality red wines they have. To boot, they even have a glow ball shining and illuminating the floor ready to setup the area near the bar into a dance floor if the community of this bar are so inclined (January tends to be a good month if you're keen for a drink and a dance). The only thing I'm sad about my experience is I live a 10 odd hour drive away from this place. Oh and lastly, if your unsure if you're a fan of rum, try their resident rum enthusiasts' favourite rum on their shelf. So damn smooth and you'll be enjoying the lingering flavour of the rum on your tongue surprisingly much longer than the boldest and most complex B

Stowaway has really good daily specials. On this day it was burritos. Delicious! We ordered a beef brisket one and a fish one, then each had a half. Both were really good! Nice views inside and out. Staff were friendly, funny, and helpful.
