Getting around Sydney is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy centres, and most suburban shops have their own car park. Charging 30 cents for a small paper bag? Really? Dymocks Brisbane told me itβs an HQ request, though one shop is charging and another isnβt.

The lifts are too small and take forever. The toilets are old. Time for renovations!

On my recent visit, I couldnβt resist picking up a βRead More Booksβ pouch, several beautiful magnetic bookmarks, and a newly released book: Freedom by Angela Merkel. I had my eye on Ray Dalioβs How Countries Go Broke, but decided to wait for a better price ;) The store also offers a wonderful selection of canvas tote bags, perfect as gifts for friends. The Dymocks flagship store is paradise for book lovers. Located in the historic Dymocks Building on George Street, it has been a literary landmark since the 1920s. The current art-deco-style building was completed in 1930 on the site of the old Royal Hotel, and today it houses one of the largest bookstores in the country, stocking an estimated 300,000+ titles.

This bookstore boasts a diverse collection of books spread across three well-organized floors. The top floor features a cozy cafΓ©, perfect for enjoying a warm beverage while delving into puzzles and a wide range of nonfiction titles. Moving downstairs, you'll find an inviting selection dedicated to young adult and childrenβs literature, catering to readers of all ages. On the ground level, the store offers an extensive array of genres, along with a delightful section for stationery and even a collection of vinyl records, providing something for everyoneβs interests.
