Charging 30 cents for a small paper bag? Really? Dymocks Brisbane told me it’s an HQ request, though one shop is charging and another isn’t.

The lifts are too small and take forever. The toilets are old. Time for renovations!

On my recent visit, I couldn’t resist picking up a β€œRead More Books” pouch, several beautiful magnetic bookmarks, and a newly released book: Freedom by Angela Merkel. I had my eye on Ray Dalio’s How Countries Go Broke, but decided to wait for a better price ;) The store also offers a wonderful selection of canvas tote bags, perfect as gifts for friends. The Dymocks flagship store is paradise for book lovers. Located in the historic Dymocks Building on George Street, it has been a literary landmark since the 1920s. The current art-deco-style building was completed in 1930 on the site of the old Royal Hotel, and today it houses one of the largest bookstores in the country, stocking an estimated 300,000+ titles.

This bookstore boasts a diverse collection of books spread across three well-organized floors. The top floor features a cozy cafΓ©, perfect for enjoying a warm beverage while delving into puzzles and a wide range of nonfiction titles. Moving downstairs, you'll find an inviting selection dedicated to young adult and children’s literature, catering to readers of all ages. On the ground level, the store offers an extensive array of genres, along with a delightful section for stationery and even a collection of vinyl records, providing something for everyone’s interests.

The Dymocks Building is an incredible heritage part of Sydney CBD with great shops and rare architecture that you don't often see around the place. It's totally worth a visit, a look, taking some photos, visiting the rare shops and more!
