About Wellington Cake Shop

Home to Sydney's most loved bagels, consistent coffee and originator of layered gelato, the Wellington Cake Shop is the secret paradise of locals for the past 43 years. From its roots in Hungary, we present classic Austro - Hungarian cakes. Pastries with poppyseed, sour cherry and baked cheese amongst some ingredients we specialise in.

Originally a popular haunt for Hungarians, Polish, Russians and other Central and Eastern Europeans it has transcended the boundaries of culture with new found fans!

The classic art of Hungarian pastries is a balance of the sweet, bitter and sour. This highlights many of our treats that are rich but not too heavy. Sweet but not overly.

We decided to give this cake shop a go as it reminded us of the pastries and cakes we ate in Europe, and we weren’t disappointed! We bought the French cheese twist which was very delicious, the almond croissant which was nice and buttery, and the walnut roll which was also tasty. The pastries were fresh (not stale) with good quality ingredients used. The service was also great. The man who served us was very helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

STUNNING!!! I absolutely ADORE Wellington Cakes. My girlfriend first introduced me to them many years ago, and I recently had the pleasure of indulging once again in their Vanilla Slice — absolutely sublime!!! The cakes are beyond delicious, beautifully made, and still have that authentic old-school quality that is so hard to find these days. The dear gentleman and his daughter who run the shop are just so precious and welcoming, with the most wonderful customer service. A true Bondi gem that has stood the test of time. I didn’t know about this bakery but the exterior caught my eye. It has a the look of quality and prestige. I had apples strudel, a poppy seed slice and cherry strudel on two occasions. They are lovely. I went after 12.30. It’s quiet. The lady was nice to ask what I like and make recommendation.

Best pastries and bagels ever! You can’t find any better pastries or bagels in town. It’s a MUST when in Bondi. My favorite is the Kuglouf chocolate cake and the jalapeños & cheese bagels on the weekends. Oh and the cheese triangles! YUMMY! The Wellington Cake Shop is a family run business and everyone is so passionate about their job. You can taste the difference! I can definitely recommend coming here for anything sweet, savory or just a great coffee!
