We had a lovely family dinner at Alex & Co. We ordered the lamb ribs, lamb shank with mashed potatoes, grilled chicken with mashed potatoes, and the prawn pasta. Overall, the food was really good. The mashed potatoes were incredibly creamy and paired perfectly with the mains. The lamb shank was the standout, well seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. The lamb ribs were also delicious, although in hindsight we should have ordered them with mashed potatoes instead of fries. The customer service could be more attentive, as it felt a bit lacking during our visit. However, the outdoor seating created a great atmosphere and made for an enjoyable dining experience. Overall, I'd recommend sitting outside and would happily return for the food.

The food at this restaurant truly deserves praise. Today I ordered the barramundi with creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli, as well as an apple tart and a pineapple cocktail. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and the portion sizes were very generous. Unfortunately, the service left me with mixed feelings. While placing my order, the waitress specifically pointed out that the broccoli would cost extra, even though this was already clearly stated on the menu. Considering that my order was quite substantial and certainly not a small bill, the comment felt somewhat unnecessary and made me feel a little uncomfortable. I also noticed that water was being served at other tables, while I was only offered some after I asked for it myself. It’s a shame because the food and atmosphere are genuinely wonderful. I would love to see the same level of care and hospitality extended equally to all guests.

I usually check Google reviews and ratings before eating out, but this time we decided to try Alex & Co without looking anything up first. We ordered a few appetizers, and while the food was okay, nothing really stood out especially considering the prices. Most dishes tasted very plain and lacked flavor, so overall it didn’t feel worth the money. The biggest disappointment was the scotch fillet. After taking a bite, the steak was extremely chewy and rubbery. We politely asked the staff to take it back and requested barramundi instead, as waiting for another steak would take too long. Thankfully, the barramundi was better, but still not something memorable for the price point. When the bill arrived, we were surprised to see the scotch fillet still included. My friend asked why we were being charged for a dish that had been returned and replaced. As someone who has worked in hospitality before, I understand that situations like this happen, and normally the original dish would be removed from the bill and replaced with the new order. Very disappointing experience. The food was really bad — the chicken was dry and looked undercooked inside, and the fries tasted old. The service was even worse. The server brought the food, placed it on the table, and walked away without saying a single word. No greeting, no check-in, nothing. Overall, poor food and terrible service. Definitely not a place I would return to.

The service was average. Out of the dishes that were ordered, I enjoyed the SZECHUAN CALAMARI mostly, though the batter could’ve been done more lightly. I also ordered the WILD MUSHROOM GNOCCHI. The gnocchi itself tasted a little bit hard. I prefer it a little more softer, and I wished for more hints of truffle. Large portion sizes for the prices. The area was clean so that was a plus.
