For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.

Sydney is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Getting around Sydney is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy centres, and most suburban shops have their own car park. Public transport and ride-share apps such as Uber and DiDi operate across New South Wales's larger cities.

This was my third time at Alpha and my first time in the private dining room, we were celebrating my birthday and it felt incredibly special. Having dined in the main area before, I can say both experiences are equally fantastic, the atmosphere just shifts depending on what you’re after. The staff are genuinely attentive and warm without being over the top, which makes such a difference. We did the $125 set menu and everything was phenomenal. My standout was the feta with filo pastry and honey, simple but absolutely perfect. The seafood platter though? Honestly, next level. The prawns were the highlight of the whole night. If you’ve ever been to Symi in Greece, the cooking style and flavour will take you straight back, it’s that authentic! I genuinely could have eaten a whole kilo of them just as a snack. A special mention to Richard who served us, he was absolutely outstanding. Attentive, personable, and made the whole evening feel effortless, he’s the kind of person who elevates a great meal into a great memory. Alpha, you’ve done it again. We look forward to our fourth visit soon.

Delicious food but portions are a bit small. Great for sharing in small groups (2-4 people). Great atmosphere, very busy, always need a booking!

Such a great venue to set up at! We've set up our softplay package here on a few occasions for our client’s baptism /christening, and the space was so perfect for this celebration. The staff were wonderful to deal with and made everything feel simple and stress‑free - big shout out to Kel and Martha, thanks for everything ❀️ Would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone hosting a celebration, and can't wait to be back!!

The place is decorated and warmly lit ambient lighting. You have a view of the chefs cooking. The taramasalata dip was my favourite by far. The passion cocktail was delicious. The bread is so fresh. The oysters were creamy.

Divine food ! Oskar was such an excellent waiter, very friendly and he gave us some excellent wine & food recommendations, special mention to the lamb and chicken ! It was succulent. All the rest were extremely good and fresh. We did enjoy everything ! Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re after some good Greek food :)
