For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.
Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 amβ7 pm. Hours in Australia do change around public holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach AMA Surry Hills on 0478 944 628; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, amasurryhills.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 229 reviews, which is a strong result for an asian restaurant in Surry Hills and suggests consistent service.

The staff here are very friendly and accommodating! Food came out lightning fast and was so yummy! We had the dry noodles and pork belly rice. The ice lemon tea tastes very authentic too! Itβs a rather small space so expect waits but other than that, will definitely be back!

The Ama's beef noodle soup is absolutely delicious, the broth has a great depth of flavour and the braised beef just melts in your mouth. The Ama's classic dry noodle (pork) was also really tasty! Recommend sharing so you get a taste of a couple of different dishes.

My fren had their famous beef noodles dry and the verdict was noodles are chewy, seasoning is yummy and the beef balls though small are quite delicious. I had the vegetable and pork stew and it reminded me of the mui chye pork belly mom cooked. Very delicious and would have been more filling if served with rice. AMAβs buns would be better known to asians as bao. So the pork and salted egg yolk is just minced pork and one yolk and the others are sweet baos. A small shelf of Asian pantry items is located by the front door. Free unlimited serving of water-Yah!

It's very small list in the menu but very quality. I love their food style. It's a Chinese style I like. Easy and comfort food but not easy to make it by yourself. Their vegan food is very delicious too. I reckon Yam woon Sen (vegan Vermicelli noodles salad). It's so tasty π ps. I'm not a vegan.

AMAβs congee just hits different π₯ Creamy rice porridge with a soft-boiled egg, meatballs, crispy vermicelli, and that rich based broth. Perfectly paired with their iced coffee bold and smooth βοΈ π‘ Just a heads up: We didnβt think to ask in advance, and some dishes were a bit too salty for us. If you prefer less salt, make sure to let the staff know: βNo Maggi, no fish sauce, pleaseβ Still a lovely little spot for Thai-style comfort food in the heart of Sydney π§‘
