I stayed here long term during the summer and I had the best time. The location being right next to coogee beach is perfect. It’s a quiet hostel which was what I wanted, but still made fun making friends with other lovely guests. Some areas could definitely do with a refresh, the living room mainly, could easily be made to feel a bit cosier, but still nice enough. The kitchen is great and was never too busy. The room I was in was lovely. Overall great stay.

I had such a great stay at Coogee Beach House! The location is absolutely perfect—just steps away from the beach, which made mornings and sunsets so special. The atmosphere is really relaxed and friendly, making it easy to meet new people and feel at home. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common areas were well-maintained. I especially loved how chill the vibe was—perfect for both relaxing and socialising. The staff were also super welcoming and helpful. Overall, it’s an amazing place to stay if you’re visiting Coogee. Great value for money, beautiful location, and a warm, social environment. I would definitely come back!

The hostel itself is well located and has potential. The common areas are decent and the atmosphere could be great. However, staying in Room 4 completely ruined my experience. The room manager of Room 4 has reportedly been staying at the hostel for around a year, and his behaviour reflects someone who treats the room as his private space rather than shared accommodation. Examples: – Loud alarms going off between 4am and 5am without being turned off – Lights switched on during the night – Jumping on beds – Dismissing guests who ask for basic respect This creates an environment where other guests feel uncomfortable and unable to rest properly. This does not appear to be an isolated complaint. If you read other reviews carefully, you will notice similar patterns mentioned by different guests. I am sharing my personal experience in good faith. It is unfortunate that concerns about Room 4 are sometimes dismissed, but consistent feedback suggests there is a real issue that needs to be addressed. The hostel could easily be a 4/5, but as long as this situation continues, I cannot recommend it. If you book, I strongly advise asking for any room except Room 4.
