One of the most poignant aspects of the memorial is the inclusion of personal stories and photographs of the sailors. Reading about their lives and seeing their faces humanized the tragedy and made it all the more real. It was a humbling experience to see the faces of these brave men and to learn about their individual stories and contributions to the war effort. π
