Honestly this is an incredible free tourist attraction. The staff were all incredibly nice and the self guided 90 minute tour is done very very well. If you need a rest, put your feet up in the hammock room! Loved the Gift Shop.

An absolute must-visit in Sydney! I was super impressed with my visit to the Hyde Park Barracks. The free audio tour is world-classβ€”it brings the entire space to life and makes the history incredibly engaging as you walk through. The attention to detail in the miniature diagrams was fantastic and really helped visualize what life was like back then. It’s a deeply informative and interesting experience, providing an excellent window into both early Sydney history and the broader European history of Australia. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!

Very interesting, the whole visit was free, including an audio guide. The Audioguide was really awesome. You get so much information and it's a very well made exhibition. We learnt a lot about today's Australia's beginnings. Would highly recommend a visit there, you will need at least 2 hours.

A must-see! I did not expect so much when I entered. There are numerous modern displays that bring many historic stories to life! The self-guided tour provides you with a high-quality headset and device. You hear incredible historic accounts as you go from room to room. Projection screens and dioramas alongside well-preserved items take you back to the past. An incredible way to learn about Sydney's beginnings!
