Sydney is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Australian addresses list the street number, suburb, state abbreviation and postcode, and Sydney follows the same pattern; a number like 2/411 means unit 2 at number 411. I decided to take up a beginner's course in Spanish and chose to do it at Instituto Cervantes not knowing anything about the organisation. I know now that I made the right decision. I find studying Spanish at Instituto Cervantes terrific fun. The 2 hours a week fly by quickly because the lessons are very entertaining as well as being instructive. A lot of content is packed into one lesson and it is amazing how much you learn just in a couple of hours, our teacher Valeria was unbelievably helpful and always made the classes never boring to get through because you are having so much fun and you pick up the language in between laughs, I think Instituto Cervantes is a wonderful place to learn Spanish and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

I can't praise the teachers highly enough. I've learned so much! But something happened recently that prompted me to write this review. I was the last in my class to leave the building because I was in the library, no-one could see me, but I could hear the big boss Coral yelling at someone, and what she was saying sounded unhinged. She's also been rude to me when our paths have crossed, it was clear I was a mere student and that she had more important people to charm. I’m sad to be giving this one star review but hope that bringing attention to the unprofessional behaviour I witnessed encourages reflection and change for the better.

I have been studying at Cervantes for 4 terms now and have only had great experiences. I have had 3 different teachers who have all been super motivated and encouraging. I would highly recommend!

I’ve been studying Spanish here for two terms and both teachers I’ve had have been amazing. Definitely recommend the face-to-face class if you can, however there are also online classes which they kindly let me join when I was unable to attend in person. There is also an amazing library with books and games for all learning levels. Will be coming back for all my Spanish lessons in the future :)

I'm enjoying studying Spanish at the Instituto Cervantes, and I'm currently enrolled in my third course this year. There are a good number of students in each class. The lessons are presented logically and clearly. The teachers are all from Spanish speaking countries, and they are knowledgeable and helpful. Blair at reception is also terrific. The school has a good library, and the classrooms look new. Spanish cultural experiences are also run such as movie nights. Most importantly I can really feel my Spanish improving. I can't rate the Instituto Cervantes highly enough!
