We said farewell to my 96yo mum with Joseph Medcalf. A beautiful small chapel for 40 or so family and friends. All aspects of the service were handled with warmth and sensitivity. I thoroughly recommend using these fine folk to look after you and your family at this difficult time.

This mob charged $16.000 for my mother's funeral in January 2022. For this, they supplied a basic coffin, no car for the immediate family and the priest who performed the service, charged us an extra $400 for his service. I have waited untill now to air my dissatisfaction because my sister was very distressed by my mother's death. She would not approve of my complaint, but I am very disappointed with the whole situation. I think these people took advantage of my sister at the time, she was very upset and vulnerable because of my mother's death. My sister made the funeral arrangements without telling me. I would not have agreed to such an outrageous fee.

On behalf of my family, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Michelle and the team for everything they did to help make my Nan’s farewell so special. Nothing was ever a problem…and if it was, they never let on. We know in our hearts that Nan would have been so happy with how everything went and she definitely would have taken a liking to Father Peter, who was such a sweet, kind man. You all helped make a very difficult and dreaded day so much better with your communication, your kindness and compassion. Thank you.

I can't thank the beautiful staff enough for their kindness and genuine care with the farewell arrangements for my treasured little sister. I highly recommend the team. I had to organise the funeral of my aunt, and a friend recommended Joseph Medcalf Funerals. I was extremely pleased with the whole process from the start to finish. All I can say is Michelle is amazing, she made a very sad time so much more bearable with her help, kindness and support. Then when I arrived at the church the staff there to help us through this very sad day again I was blown away. Their beautiful way with everyone who stepped into the church was nothing but amazing. They made a very difficult day so much more bearable and from the bottom of my heart Michelle I can’t thank you and your people enough. Andrew and the team at Medcalf’s we’re amazing! In November we had a funeral for a very close family friend and Andrew went above and beyond to make things as easy as possible! The farewell is exactly what we wanted! I honestly can’t thank them enough for making things as easy as possible at a very hard time! Thank you all so much

My sisters and I highly recommend Joseph Medcalf Funerals in Matraville. From my first call with Michelle to make arrangements for my mother's funeral, her response was warm, consoling and empathetic. She assured me that my mother would be kept at the funeral home in their care until the day of the funeral as a mark of respect and I found this statement particularly comforting.Her total professionalism and attention to detail was first class from our first meeting with her to the conduct of her and her team on the day, and we felt that she accorded my mother the same respect as though she was her own mother. The funeral service was flawless and moving, due to her exceptional organizational skills and her genuine desire to make this traumatic time as smooth and stress free for us as possible. This same attitude continued well after the funeral as she was always available to take my calls and called or emailed to keep me up to date with further necessary arrangements. I highly recommend Michelle and her team to anyone deciding on choosing a funeral home to take care of a loved one and their family.
