Eating out in Australia ranges from beachside takeaways to hatted dining rooms, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. If you have dietary needs, most kitchens will adapt a dish if you ask. Licensed venues serve alcohol; BYO places let you bring a bottle for a small corkage fee. Tipping is appreciated but never expected.
Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–10:30 pm. Hours in Australia do change around public holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 0452 231 878. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a mobile. More information is available on its website, revu.website.
Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 662 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian restaurants in Haymarket.
Haymarket is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Australian addresses list the street number, suburb, state abbreviation and postcode, and Haymarket follows the same pattern; a number like 2/411 means unit 2 at number 411. Made a reservation just incase and when I arrived it was almost full indoors. There are outdoor seats and I’m not sure what’s the peak timing here but just to be safe, make a reservation! Food wise, I ordered the raw salmon and prawn rice bowl and I really enjoyed it! The green chilli sauce goes really well with the dish and I added an extra egg to my bowl. Total was $24.50. I just wish the portion was abit bigger in terms of the egg, prawns and salmon. Service wise it’s okay. The food came pretty quick though. I think it only took me around 20 minutes to sit, order, wait, and finish my food. Atmosphere wise, it was abit hot and table spaces were a tad bit small. But still comfortable. Place was clean and had a cheery environment with kpop music 🤭

It wasn't bad, but I can't lie, it wasn't great either. The food came out warm but not hot. The staff were very friendly and accommodating for our group. We got the "giants" khao man kai to try all the chickens. The fried chicken wasn't that crispy; steamed was tasteless; grilled was soggy. The sauces saved them. The roast pork was also not very crispy and was just hard. Massaman curry chicken was pretty good.

Really nice Thai spot for a quick meal. The Khao Man set with garlic rice was super tasty and great value. Loved the grilled pork jowl and the chicken – both very flavourful. The pandan toast dessert was also amazing. Will definitely come back!

Influenced by Korean ganjang saeujang (soy-marinated shrimp), soy marinated raw seafood dishes are currently popular in Thailand. These dishes see sashimi grade seafood marinated in a blend of soy sauce, garlic, red chillies, fermented fish sauce and palm sugar. You can try them at Khao Man Kai - ข้าวมันไก่ in Haymarket as a chirashi-style bowl ($20.90), or as a DIY set ($24.90). We opted for the latter, which teams a plate of marinated salmon and prawns with roasted seaweed sheets, a bowl of steamed jasmine rice and a pot of nam jim talay (a green Thai sauce made for seafood). The rammed restaurant is actually popular for its chicken, served steamed, grilled and fried. Try all three on the giants khao man kai ($34.90) which comes with a not-inconsiderable mound of garlic rice, sliced cucumber, chicken broth and three dipping sauces. The nam jim jaew is an easy favourite but don’t let that stop you from sampling the lot. The other restaurant mainstay is pork jowl, which we took “khao man” as fatty rice ($21.90). Here the tender strips of grilled pork cheek sit over rice with more cucumber slices and a soft egg. There’s not a whole lot in the way of vegetables on this menu, bar for

The Hainan chicken was good as expected from a restaurant named after the dish. The chicken was tender and the rice was delicious. The fish maw soup was also nice with generous amounts of fish mow. The broth was thick and heartwarming. But the star of the show was actually the soy marinated seafood donburi that was absolutely amazing, like a party of flavours and textures in a bowl. It was sweet, savoury, and fiery all at the same time. The runny egg yolk tied everything together and that little plate of green sauce added more fire to the dish. Overall, the food was excellent across the board with the exception of the grilled pork jowl that was a bit tough. Service was efficient and seating was spacious.
