The Pool of Reflection is a peaceful and moving place to pause during a visit to the Anzac Memorial. The still water creates a quiet moment that encourages reflection and respect. Even with people around, it feels calm and thoughtfully designed. A meaningful stop if you are exploring the area or learning about Australiaβs history.

Part of the ANZAC memorial the pool is so peaceful located in the heart of what is a bustling city. In sunlight the reflection is amazing but the real purpose is for quiet reflection in commemoration of those that fought and lost their lives in conflicts over the years.

The Pool of Reflection, stretching out in front of the ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park, is one of the most tranquil spots in Sydney. Long, still, and perfectly symmetrical, the water lies quietly beneath the canopy of plane trees, mirroring the sky, the memorial, and the surrounding greenery. What makes it so special is its serenity. Even though it sits right in the heart of the city, surrounded by traffic and tall buildings, the pool creates a sense of silence. The surface of the water is often perfectly still, disturbed only by the occasional ripple from a breeze, giving it a meditative quality. Itβs a place where time feels slower, where you can step away from the cityβs energy and find a moment of calm. The design invites reflection in both senses of the word: the water reflects the memorial and the trees in its glassy surface, and it encourages visitors to pause, remember, and reflect on the lives honored nearby. The quiet dignity of the pool turns this part of Hyde Park into a sanctuary, a space that balances the bustle of Sydney with peace and contemplation.

Shallow pool of water built after world war 1 to commemorate the men and women who served during the war. Nowadays, it provides a quiet respite for Sydneysiders inbetween their hectic work days. Patrons chill around here in the afternoon with the occassional bin chickens. It also provides a good vista for the Anzac Memorial.
