For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.

Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 am–3 pm. Hours in Australia do change around public holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Great vibe and very friendly, helpful staff at this leafy backstreet cafe in Newtown. Eggs, avocado, halloumi and bacon were so fresh and delicious. The mushroom tastie was exceptionally good. Great coffee and it was impossible to resist some donuts on the way out.

Such a unique brunch spot. The service was fantastic, the food tasted incredibly fresh with just the right amount of kick, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Loved the native greenery throughout the space πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

A great cafe off the main road. Generally crowded which is a testament to the friendly service and really well prepared food. All the basics done well with some more innovative offerings. As usual, had a 20 minute wait for a table but worth it and when you are seated, the food, coffee etc arrives quickly

Just over $20 for the Soul b & e and coffee. Both were good! The sambal on the roll was a nice touch and the coffee came out quick. Best part was the service, quick, genuine straightforward.

Such a wonderful little cafe with the best vibe! This was seriously the best iced chocolate and bacon and egg roll I’ve had in a long time. Both are simple items done extremely well with a perfect balance of flavour, texture and technique. It was so reasonably priced and the staff were lovely!

My friends and I heard really great things about Soulmate and had been wanting to try it for a while. Unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. We came on Saturday around mid morning. The cafe was very busy. We stood outside and waited about half an hour for a table. Once inside, it was noisy. I don't know if it was the acoustics of the place but the music and the conversations of others was very loud. It was hard for my friends and I to hear each other and maintain conversation. Service was initially good. Staff were very friendly, warm, courteous and welcoming. Our food and drinks came shortly after ordering which we appreciated. After we finished our food though, we wanted to order more drinks. We asked a waiter for the menu which was promptly brought to us. We waited some time however but no one came back. We did try and call a waiter over but still no one came. We eventually paid our bill for what we already had and left. I ordered the breakfast burger. I thought it was tasty. I found it to be on the expensive side though, especially in comparison to other cafes I have been to. By the time the weekend surcharge was added, it was almost $20. My friend ordered the Soul

Soulmate Marrickville has a warm, friendly vibe with great coffee and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is creative without being overcomplicated, and the staff are welcoming. A nice spot for both a casual brunch or just a quick coffee.

The best cafe you’ll ever go to. Can the service be better? Sure. Although they have been getting friendlier lately! The food and drinks make up for it. Honestly, I’ve yet to try ONE thing here that didn’t taste heavenly. This place is unbelievably good.
