I highly recommend this hostel! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The atmosphere is great, and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely come back. Thank you to the whole team!

Loved my time at Summerhouse! I spent 3 weeks. The staff was so lovely and accommodating. There are daily events to see the city and get to know the other people living in the hostel. Everyone was quite friendly. Teagan (the manager) is so nice and helped me carry my heavy suitcase to my room (I chose the room on the top floor haha oops) and Oli, the events guy was always enthusiastic and made the events fun! Will 100% be back

Summer House Kings Cross has a genuinely homey feel that’s hard to find in a hostel. It’s an older property with carpeted floors, a proper kitchen, and a common room laid out the way you’d expect in an actual house rather than a purpose-built dorm block. It has charm, but go in knowing it’s not a super sleek modern space. The area is a nice surprise too. It has a suburban feel despite being a 10 minute walk from the city centre, which makes it feel quieter and more relaxed than you’d expect for the location. The staff are attentive and the place is kept clean around the clock thanks to cleaners and volunteers on rotation. The rules are fair and actually help keep things in order rather than feeling restrictive. One I personally appreciate is the fact that the TV room is open 24/7, so there’s always somewhere to hang out outside of your room regardless of the hour. Events like BBQs, free drinks, and pancake mornings add a community feel, and there’s often surplus food left at reception that local supermarkets bring in, which is a nice bonus. Good facilities, good people, good vibe. Worth it if you want somewhere that feels like home rather than a hotel.

RUN AWAY I wanted to express my deep dissatisfaction following my stay at this hostel. During my stay in Sydney, I decided to visit several hostels. After comparing prices, this one seemed fairly affordable considering the photos posted on Booking, so I decided to book it. On Booking, the price was listed as 240 dollars per week. However, when I arrived at reception to check in, I was suddenly told the price was 320 dollars. I showed them the price displayed on Booking, and the receptionist immediately changed the rate back to the advertised online price. After that, my stay started off quite well. However, three days after my arrival, some of my food was stolen. I went to complain at reception, and the issue was simply β€œnoted.” I then decided to extend my booking. On the very day I extended my stay, the exact same thing happened again: more food was stolen. Once again, I let it go. The next day, I found out that I urgently had to return to France. I booked my flights and informed reception, asking whether it would be possible to get a refund for the unused nights. I was immediately told no. However, in the confirmation email I received upon arrival, it clearly stated that guests h
