Never did I imagine that a fish market would make it to my travel bucket list, but the Sydney Fish Market completely blew my mind. The incredible variety of seafood you can buy, have cooked fresh, or enjoy at the food counters is amazing. Add to that the fresh fruits and so much more it was absolutely worth the visit! Canโ€™t wait to go back to have the fish and chips. Just be careful with the birds around. ๐Ÿ˜

The (new) Sydney Fish Market opened in January 2026. It took 10 years to plan and build this new complex that features fresh seafood vendors, restaurants, bakeries and grocers. There is seating including outdoors. The modern architecture is worth a visit on its own but even better to go inside to sample some of the fresh seafood and other local specialties. Highly recommend

โ€‹A Fantastic Evening at the New Sydney Fish Market! โ€‹We had an absolute blast visiting the new Sydney Fish Market! The atmosphere and vibe were fantastic, and sharing it with great company made the evening truly special. Our pick was lobster and mussells but you cant go wrong with prawn and Tuna. โ€‹The venue offers a perfect settingโ€”modern open-style architecture combined with stunning waterfront and bridge views, especially as dusk sets in. We enjoyed a delicious spread of dishes, drinks, and great conversation under the outdoor heaters. โ€‹An incredible spot to gather, dine, and take in the harbor view. We will certainly be coming back! โ€‹#hikingdiarybyabid

This place is amazing. Fresh, clean, open and has a real modern vibe. The new Sydney Fish Market is outstanding. There is a vibrancy around the place with happy workers and amazing displays of some of the freshest fish you will find. Well worth the visit even if you are just browsing. I had a great coffee there too.

Visited the new Sydney Fish Market and honestly, there is so much food to explore that one visit is definitely not enough. Started with half a dozen fancy oysters with uni & tobiko and a delicious Tuna taco from Fish Market Cafe. The oysters were fresh and creamy, flavours were enhanced by the toppings and the tuna taco was beautifully presented and packed with flavour โ€” easily one of the highlights of the visit. For mains, I ordered the Yellowbelly flounder and mud crab from Christieโ€™s Seafood. The flounder was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked salt and pepper style โ€” light, crispy and delicious. The mud crab in butter and garlic sauce was rich, flavourful and definitely worth the mess. One thing I really liked is that you can choose your own fresh seafood from the display, have it weighed, and theyโ€™ll cook it for you. Cooking costs around $15, and thereโ€™s an additional charge of approx. $15 if you want extras like noodles or fried buns (mantou) added to the dish. The new market itself is modern, lively and has a huge variety of seafood and food stalls. It can feel a little overwhelming on the first visit because thereโ€™s so much to look at, and it gets busy very quickly.
