For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, is it busy at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Australian cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon, while restaurants and pubs run lunch and dinner services with a quiet spell in between, so an off-peak visit is worth a quick call. Card and tap-to-pay are accepted almost everywhere; some venues add a surcharge on weekends and public holidays.

Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 12–3 pm. Hours in Australia do change around public holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (02) 9251 9990. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a mobile. Its website is thespiceroom.com.au, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 3,973 reviews, which is a strong result for an indian restaurant in Sydney and suggests consistent service.

Sydney is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Australian addresses list the street number, suburb, state abbreviation and postcode, and Sydney follows the same pattern; a number like 2/411 means unit 2 at number 411. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Fabulous meal, delicious flavours, great size portions. We were keen for an Indian meal and after reading the reviews we can agree The Spice Room is an excellent restaurant! We had the special chook biryani and Andhra curry leaf chook. Both amazing and enough to bring some home!

Chose The Spice Room because of location and the great reviews. It was fantastic! Quick, attentive and friendly service. Chose the BEEF DO PYAZA and PRAWN VINDALOO…. Top Shelf!! Wine selection was perfect also. It seems the whole menu has been thought through as it is not over done.

Amazing atmosphere in a prime location right near the Opera House, making it a perfect spot to unwind with great food and views. The vibe was lively yet comfortable, with attentive service that made the experience even better. We started with the non-veg appetizersβ€”the seekh kebab was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with authentic spices, while the chicken tikka was perfectly cooked with a nice smoky flavor. Both dishes set a high bar for what was to come. For mains, we ordered the house dal, classic naan, and a desi salad. The dal was rich, creamy, and full of homely flavors that really stood out. The naan was soft, warm, and freshly madeβ€”perfect for pairing with the dal. The desi salad added a refreshing crunch that balanced the meal nicely. Portions were generous, presentation was appealing, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with delicious food, great ambiance, and a location that’s hard to beat. Definitely a place worth visiting again!

Food was good , obviously spicy but butter chicken & Sambuca was delicious. I wouldn’t give it a 5 star review though. I liked the environment, nice & cozy. People working there were really friendly & attentive especially Sarbu. The food in the photos are from the set menu, $80 pp.
