One of the most reliable and delightful highlights of my Sydney trip was shopping at Woolworths Metro Haymarket, ideally located at 61-79 Quay Street, steps from Chinatown, Central Station and Paddyโs Markets, making it supremely convenient for tourists like me. This compact yet comprehensively stocked supermarket was an absolute essential throughout my stay. It offers an impressive range of high-quality goods, from fresh local Australian produce, premium dairy and ready-to-eat meals perfect for on-the-go sightseeing, to travel essentials, beloved local snacks, and daily necessities, all at fair prices far better than nearby tourist-focused convenience stores. I was deeply impressed by its spotlessly clean, well-organized aisles, seamless checkout options, and the incredibly warm, helpful staff. It also provides valid tax invoices for Australiaโs Tourist Refund Scheme, a huge bonus for international visitors. Every visit was hassle-free and pleasant, and this Woolworths Metro far exceeded my expectations, becoming an indispensable, comforting part of my Sydney travel experience.

I felt like a thief the whole time!!! Undercover security who might as well wear a high vis with Security written on the back of it as there so obvious with there stupid matching ear pieces clocked me as soon as I walked in and proceeded to follow me around like I was some sort of criminal. The female one ended up in front of me in nearly every aisle watching what I was doing and then even as I was physically paying for my items I could feel someone watching again so I turned around and she had brought a male guard with her for backup peering over the top of the racks watching me scanning my items. Definitely not a nice feeling when I'm obviously dressed in my work clothes as a hard working tax paying member of society who needs to be watched doing groceries in case I stuff something down my pants. Pretty judgemental to follow tradies around the store, we're dirty cos we're grafters not cos we are thief's!!!! No wonder the prices are so high when they're employing numpties like them to follow honest people around.

For a Metro Woolworths that charges inflated prices while the company reports record profits, itโs unbelievable how often this store canโt stock the basics. Iโll plan a full meal, go down specifically to buy the ingredients, and without fail theyโre missing one key item โ meaning the entire shop is pointless and the time spent planning is completely wasted. The staff are consistently unfriendly and dismissive. I asked a staff member if they had an item in stock and was met with a grunt and โI donโt have it,โ followed by zero effort to help or even check. The store is dirty and uncomfortable. Thereโs rubbish everywhere and people begging for money inside the store, which makes the whole place feel neglected and chaotic. I only shop here because I live very close โ not because itโs convenient, because it isnโt. Limited range, empty shelves, poor service, and higher prices than other Woolworths stores. Paying more for a worse experience while Woolworths posts record profits is beyond frustrating. edit: march 2026 ThE fReSh FoOd PeOpLe ๐ฅด Went to Woolies once more where I had planned some meals, Fennel is disgusting. No ground coriander. This happens EVERY time I go there to buy things

My favorite Metro to hunt the quick sale food (veggies/chicken/milk/cakes/soup/fruit)where I can find them easily in the fridge between the fast food racks and the sushi corner.Every week, there will be different items on sale.Almost everything I need I can get it here from the fresh fruits and veggies, salads, wraps, sandwiches, diet meal, babies' meal, drinks, ice cream, milk, yoghurt until the daily needs like the toothpaste and the shampoo.
