I should have looked inside the gym and asked for a tour before forking out an expensive $25 (plus a card surcharge, which they failed to inform me about) to try out this gym. First, I have no idea how this gym has such a high rating. Perhaps it’s an MMA gym mainly, with classes also being popular. But I am rating this gym based on its gym workout equipment and facilities. The rating mislead me into visiting this dump. The gym space, where all the equipment is located, is small. And the equipment is extremely limited and from the 1990s or earlier. The machines are rusted and dirty. I did not even notice sanitising wipes to clean the equipment. I would assume staph infections would abound in this gym. Honestly, the entire gym needs to be gutted and renovated with fresh, clean, modern equipment installed. I refused to use the equipment because of its ancient and disgusting condition. Next, the smell and general air quality was horrific. As soon as I stepped into the workout area, all I could smell was the stench of nasty foot odour. Been training at Bondi Gym for a few years and it’s a great gym. There’s plenty of space to work out without feeling crowded, a really positive vibe, and Michael is always super friendly and helpful.

A real, no-nonsense gym – nothing like the flashy chain gyms full of posers. Great equipment, solid vibe, and everything you need to train seriously. Special shoutout to Michael for running it so well – you can tell there’s real passion behind this place.

I’m surprised by the rating this gym has received. While it has potential, the facility is in a noticeably outdated state. The fitness equipment appears to be from the 90s, and several machines seem to be in urgent need of replacement (see photos). It’s clear that some updates and maintenance would greatly improve the experience for members. If you’re looking for a more modern and well-maintained gym, this may not meet your expectations.

I’ve been training at Bondi Gym for over two years now, and I absolutely love it. I regularly attend the group classes, which offer a variety of workout types. There's also a dedicated space for free weights. Michael is an excellent coach who consistently goes above and beyond to provide the best service. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly, and it always makes me feel welcome. I truly love this gym—it's definitely my safe space.
