I’ve been a loyal customer for quite some time and regularly order the jalapeΓ±o cheese wheel/scroll. When I first started buying it, I specifically asked staff on multiple occasions whether it was vegetarian, and I was told that it was. Today, after taking a bite as I was leaving, I found a large chunk of meat inside. As a vegetarian, this was really upsetting and completely ruined my appetite. I went back into the bakery, explained the situation, and asked for a refund rather than a replacement because my mood was already off. The staff refunded me and went to check the ingredients, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the refund was accidentally 10 cents short, so I had to go back again to ask for the correct amount. It wasn’t about the 10 centsβ€”it was simply that I wanted the refund to be correct. I stayed polite throughout because I work in customer service myself and understand that mistakes happen. However, I felt uncomfortable with the attitude I received when asking for the missing change. I also noticed another staff member suggested offering a small goodwill gesture, but that was ignored. My biggest concern is the meat in a product I had been assured was vegetarian. I

Bourke Street bakery have a reputation which precedes them dating back over a decade, so it was with anticipation that I ordered breakfast with them one Friday morning. Despite being as popular as ever with patrons streaming out the door at times, I had one of those rare experiences where multiple things go wrong. The waitress who took my order was friendly enough, but got it mixed up and I was served the wrong tart. I expected their avocado toast to be a rather plain dish (you get what you pay for) but in addition to being plain the bread was hardly toasted and had the soft consistency of warm bread. After being served my tart and toast, I waited patiently for the green tea which never arrived, and eventually needed to remind the wait staff. To round off a morning of poor experiences, their chairs do not have backs - they are all stools, which are not comfortable to sit on for extended periods. Yet despite my ramblings, Bourke Street Bakery Parramatta continue to do a roaring trade and are popular with the local crowd.

Enjoyed my visit to Bourke Street Bakery Parramatta. The baked goods are high quality, especially the sausage rolls and tarts. Service was quick even during the busy period, and the space feels cosy despite the foot traffic. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

I genuinely do not understand the hype for this place, I walked past it and saw that there was a line up, so I joined, ordered a meat pie and a veg curry pie. It is so bland, cardboard taste. I've had better pies at 7/11 servo. The coffee is so bad, had one sip, threw it out, my iced coffee was 2% coffee, couldn’t taste it, was basically oat milk in a cup with one ice cube

This is a genuine 6/5 experience for me, and I don’t give that out easily. Bourke Street Bakery has become one of my go-to spots, and I’ve visited multiple times now. It’s consistently a great place for meetups, whether casual or slightly more formal. The food quality is always strong, with a great variety across the menu. From the rolls, tarts, to rotating specials like the vermicelli salad, everything is fresh, well-prepared, and consistently reliable. What really stands out is the service. Even during peak periods, the team stays composed, organised, and attentive, which makes the overall experience smooth and enjoyable. A special mention to Carlos, who I’ve seen working there regularly. He’s consistently on point, keeps things running efficiently, and clearly goes the extra mile. His presence adds a noticeable level of leadership and professionalism to the team. Overall, a place that consistently gets the fundamentals right across both food and service. Definitely somewhere I’ll keep coming back to.
