This was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. The venue allows dogs, yet they won’t allow anyone under 18 to remain on the premises. We were asked to leave just as our food was about to arrive, and our order had to be refunded. What made the situation even worse was that the staff expected the children under 18 to leave while the adults stayed inside, leaving the kids to wait for their parents. That is an unreasonable and concerning way to handle the situation. To make matters worse, the signage is confusing and doesn’t clearly explain the policy. If this is how the venue operates, it should be made obvious before customers order food instead of finding out after they’ve already paid. Overall, it was a frustrating experience with poor communication and disappointing customer service. I won’t be returning.

Criterion Hotel is a Sydney Central hotel located on Pitt Street by Town Hall Station. It's about an hour from the airport but right next to Town Hall station and a 10-minute walk from the museum and art gallery. You check in through the bar at the Criterion Tavern and then the entrance is keycard triggered right next to the corner of Pitt and Park street. There's no elevator so be prepared. Most of the rooms are about 50 steps up. My room had a single bed and shower, it was really spacious with a wooden seat/table, a single seat padded chair, side table, bar fridge and then elevated bathroom unit. The shower is on the same plane as the rest of the bathroom so it can get quite wet but there's an exhaust fan. There's an aircon unit and lots of shuttered windows that don't open. There's a small light next to the bed and a USB charging cable port but it was pretty rough and wouldn't charge consistently. There's a 4-port power board next to the fridge, a tiny kettle, and then black tea, coffee and sugar. There is 1 250ml bottle of water provided per day. The staff working in the pub section on 30/5/26 were extremely rude. The girl with the curly brown hair failed to tell my family that under 18s were not allowed at this time (1pm). Despite my 16 yo brother only wanting to have a meal with my family including parents. Once our meal arrived a lady (blonde bun) proceeded to kick us out forcing us to pack our meals into take away containers. Completely unprofessional. Would have appreciated at least being told before we ordered food. Won’t ever be returning.

Excellently located within the bustling Sydney CBD - an old-timey feeling pub with lots of design character. Great to drop into for a quick bev after a challenging work day. It appears the downstairs level is undergoing renovation, even while remaining operational. It has the potential to be a true British-vibes pub, let's hope they get it right!
