I tried to buy some books on Monday morning. The service was okay, but it felt very old-fashioned. The staff only focused on what I asked for and didn’t seem interested in helping further or making the experience better. The way the books were arranged also wasn’t very customer-friendly. It felt like there wasn’t much thought put into making it easy to browse and discover books. In the end, I bought my books from QBD Books instead. The staff there were much more helpful and genuinely cared about their customers.

Horrible service I bought a book from Chatswood Dymocks and when I get home I opened it and realised the pages aren’t bound correctly and very flimsy. Mind you I didn’t read it and barely touched it. My mum went to return the book a few days later for me. When she asked for it to be returned, the worker took it to the back and after five minutes returned and said the “spine was heavily creased” and the book was “clearly used” and they can’t return it. The spine looked clearly tampered. It’s understandable how wouldn’t want to return it. However the worker continued to say to my mum “if you wanted a free book you should’ve just gone to the library”. That is just blatantly rude. Simply saying they can’t return it because it’s used would’ve been fine. Do not come here unless you want to be met with a bad attitude and disrespect.

The girls who served me today, Lana and Pia were amazing! They were the most helpful kind people who recommended some amazing books that I can’t wait to start reading! Ended up buying way more than I came in for! Thanks for making my day

As someone who wanted to get back into reading - the amount of choice is so overwhelming! But Ruby, one of the wonderful staff, was so helpful in recommending me some books with very little to go off of from me :) thank you for making me feel so welcome! ☺️☺️ as long as you are a respectful patron to the books, staff and others you should have no problems here, every single time I’ve been, the staff and store have been amazing!

Me and the kids went here few days ago, while we were browsing the books, one of the staff told us we can’t look through the books before deciding unless we buy it! To be honest, this staff is not bad, when I surprisedly ask “sorry? What are you saying?” She tried her best to explain that it’s the book shop not the library. What kind of this book shop is! I emailed that afternoon about this disappointing experience. The staff said they had the policy about this. Then please show me! Here is the response: “Each location operates individually. Store teams may apply their own discretion!” Read it and feel it, don’t forget to leave it! In an era where online shopping is booming, a bookstore that refuses to provide even basic reading space for customers is truly penny wise and pound foolish.
