I had a very disappointing experience at the HSBC Parramatta branch. I attended the branch to deposit large amount of cash. Instead of assisting us over the counter, staff repeatedly discouraged the transaction and advised us to use the ATM, stating that additional documentation would be required for an in-branch deposit. As I was under time pressure, I followed their suggestion. However, the ATM accepted the cash and then failed to credit the funds to the account. The money effectively disappeared from the system. What is most concerning is the lack of support provided by staff afterward. I was then told the ATM is operated by a third party and that the bank is not responsible. This was never disclosed prior to directing me to use the machine. From a customer perspective, this raises serious concerns: There was no clear duty of care when advising on how to deposit funds The advice given was misleading, as key risks were not disclosed When something went wrong, responsibility was deflected rather than resolved If I urgently needed those funds for rent or other obligations, waiting one to three weeks for investigation is simply unacceptable. This is by far the worst bank I have ever dealt with, bar none. HSBC froze my accounts for three months without any reason and offered no explanation. I proactively called the hotline countless times, and every time the staff I spoke to responded perfunctorily, leaving the issue unresolved. HSBC cannot prove that my funds are illegal, nor do they allow me to prove my innocence, ignoring a regular customer’s legitimate request and constantly delaying without any feedback. If HSBC had taken the initiative to contact me and understand the situation, I would have fully cooperated. However, HSBC’s approach is extremely arrogant—they never reach out, and everything they do seems aimed solely at proving their suspicion right, without reason or professionalism. They build an invisible wall in front of you, keeping you away from the truth. As a law-abiding ordinary person, I feel truly helpless!

I visited the Parramatta branch today to unblock my online banking. The staff ,name Shodmon, he was extremely professional and friendly. He helped me resolve all my issues, and I truly appreciated his assistance. However, I was quite disappointed by the attitude of the customer service manager. As soon as I entered the branch, she gave me an unfriendly look. I hope she can improve her professionalism in dealing with customers and to make herself fit for her role.
