I was looking forward to visiting PJ O'Brien's while in Sydney, especially as the pub has a great traditional Irish feel. The dΓ©cor and atmosphere are definitely the highlights, and at first glance it was encouraging to see a few gluten free options on the menu. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. While there are gluten free dishes available, the venue isn't truly coeliac friendly, which was disappointing as someone with coeliac disease. Having gluten free options is one thing, but confidence in safe preparation is equally important. The food itself was underwhelming. The pizzas looked and tasted like they had been cooked from frozen rather than being freshly made, which was disappointing considering the price. My wife ordered the Guinness and beef pie, but found it to be bland, heavy and stodgy, lacking the rich flavour you'd expect from a classic pub dish. Being an Irish pub, we also had high hopes for the Guinness, but even that was a let down. My son commented that it was served far too cold and tasted watery, which took away from what should have been one of the pub's standout offerings. Overall, it was a disappointing visit. We came without reservation on Sunday evening thinking oh well who will be there on Sunday evening! Wrong thinking :) lots of people And we found only one table available on 2 floor! So reserve the table! They have live music and also on top of great beer of course the food was delicious!!!

Lively pub with great selection of meals available on the menu. Decided on a simple fish and chips meal. Fish was fresh and portions generous. Chips were great too, ordered an extra portion to go with sauce dips. More seating upstairs as the ground floor was pretty crowded. Staff were helpful and very attentive. Great place to relax and have a few beers with friends.

Nice pub inside if youβre going for drinks only. Please be mindful if youβre ordering food, especially if itβs close to last call as this is what we were served. Myself and my boyfriend were violently ill after being served raw chicken. Bar staff were so nice about it however, when I confronted the chefs behind the kitchen they seemed to have no idea what salmonella is or the dangers of serving raw food. Sharing so others can be aware and I wouldnβt go back personally. Such a shame because the bar area is nice and does feel like youβre home in Ireland.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Everything you'd hope for an a well-established pub! An Irish pub at that. Had a reunion dinner here upstairs and managed to merge two unreserved tables together which was nice. Ordered their Irish stew which was great! Not something you'd usually have for pub food but it was on the "healthier" end I suppose! Later on, they started having some smaller performances downstairs which made the pub a bit lively and rowdy. Loved the service and atmosphere here. Thanks for the night! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ
