I would give this hotel 0 stars if I could. My stay at The Sebel Chatswood was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The first issue started at around 9:36 pm when I called reception to report what appeared to be bug bites all over another guest staying in my room after sleeping on the sofa bed. I was told someone would organise another room and call me back within 30 minutes. That call never came. No follow-up, no apology, no alternative room. The second incident was far more disturbing. For hours we could hear a woman on the floor below screaming accompanied by loud banging. It genuinely sounded like someone was in serious danger. I immediately called reception and explained exactly what I was hearing. I also told them I suffer from PTSD due to previous traumatic experiences involving similar situations and that the screaming was causing me significant distress. I was assured security would investigate and that I would receive an update. Again, nobody called back. I left after the first night of a three-night booking due to major health and safety concerns. The room was extremely dirty and certainly not what I would expect from a property advertised as a 4.5-star hotel through Accor. The room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke on arrival. I notified staff however when I returned at around 9pm on a cold evening, I found all the doors wide open with all of my personal belongings still inside. I was absolutely mortified. The room also had visible black mould, dust throughout, hair in the bathroom, and greasy, sticky cupboard doors. The overall cleanliness was unacceptable. To make matters worse, I had paid extra for buffet breakfast, only to be provided with a small box of cereal and juice. This experience fell well below the standard advertised, and I was extremely disappointed. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others. Very disappointed by accor and Sebel. Avoid at all costs

The apartment is dated. The rooms haven’t been maintained. The reception is closed after 6pm and guests have to call an after-hours number to get help to check in (get ready with passport/ID and pay upfront before keys are dispensed). The rooms are not clean and feels grimy. The shower gel and shampoo are only available (and locked) at the bath tub area but not the shower area, which means stepping in and out of the shower area to have a proper shower. To top it off, there are spiders in the bedroom. Rooms facing the train station will get train noise till past midnight and start around 5+am. The only plus is the location. I do not recommend this apartment for leisure or business.

Lower your expectations and you’ll be ok at this hotel. The location is great but the facilities and reception was awful. When we arrived, we asked for a baby cot and reception didn’t have a clue. We ended up buying our own. Then they sent one but without the mattress. The room has gas cooking but no way to ignite it The pool, spa and sauna were all out of order and the gym is so hot you’ll pass out from the heat The only good part is access to the Westfield and public transport
