Poor staffing. If you have private insurance, it can sometimes feel like unnecessary concern is created instead of reassuring parents about situations that are completely normal. For example, there was pressure to introduce formula because of normal newborn weight loss, without properly considering that it usually takes 3–5 days for a mother's milk supply to come in. They also counted our baby as being 4 days old when a full day is 24 hours, and those hours can make a real difference in the assessment. Of course, if there is a genuine medical concern, medical intervention is essential. However, creating unnecessary anxiety without considering the full picture does not help either the mother or the baby. Instead of providing support to a woman recovering from major surgery, they did not seem to adequately consider the emotional and physical stress of childbirth and a Caesarean section. In particular, some of the night-shift nurses did not communicate information clearly or consistently, which created unnecessary stress and anxiety during an already difficult time.

Admissions at 7am waited over an hour and half, to be told a nurse marked my name off and thought I was back in bed, not one person caught on that I wasn’t present. Asked for no male nurses, had a bad wake up from surgery crying panicking AS I said NO MALES yet one was at my bed side. Had a poor student nurse who was asking for help and the nurse In charge walked away. Asked for pain meds multiple times with nothing given, the charge nurse was straight out of a horror movie I tried to talk to her about how I’m in pain but all she said was how she won’t discharge me because she didn’t witness me pee, again IN PAIN can’t urinate, basically said she’ll look over the paperwork, another 2 hours+ of waiting with staff asking when I’m LEAVING just to find out the charge nurse didn’t even start the paper work. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone the whole time I felt unsafe and like I would be forgotten or have my care over looked, while there was many good nurses and the students did great it’s not acceptable to have the lack of communication between staff and departments. Private hospital who seem to be cutting corners

I’m very thankful for the excellent care and support provided by the nurses in the cardiac ward at Westmead Private Hospital. Rachana and Rojina were incredibly kind, professional, and caring throughout my stay. They made me feel comfortable, supported, and well looked after at all times. Their compassion, dedication, and positive attitude truly made a big difference in my recovery experience. I sincerely appreciate their hard work and would highly recommend the cardiac ward team.

6 months after my surgery was cancelled and still haven't received a refund from the hospital. To make matters worse, they can't find my records either, and when I am transfered to someone that "can help" the message I receive is "sorry, we are having difficulties with the phone system right now". Thank goodness my surgery was cancelled and it is only money they have taken. Run a mile I say.

I went in for a minor procedure in January ‘26. From the moment I arrived at Westmead Private Hospital I was greeted by friendly staff, I was cared for by the kindest nurses, the anaesthetist doctor was so caring and I was operated on by the nicest surgeon. I can’t thank everyone enough for the best professionalism I have personally ever received. You guys are amazing.
