The museum building is designed in the Neoclassical style.Its history dates back to when it served as the south wing of the Rum Hospital, continuing in use up to the present day.

We had a wonderful visit at the Museum of history NSW, love the art as well as the history of the building itself. Docent was very helpful and informative. Stopped back to see some new exhibits. Just excellent and very unlike the other historical museums. Very easy to move through, and see a solid series of exhibits that totally represent NSW historical art.

A historical building with helpful staff. She gave us a brief history the place. There's a cafe to dine in .

This place is free entry. Once you enter they will give you headset and device to see the transcript of the explanation. This headset is a must if you want to understand the history in each area.. the explanation itself were not boring..it was quite interesting. You can spend good 30-60 minutes in here, specially if you are keen with history..
