About Osteria Luna

Osteria Luna is Sydney’s new underground Italian joint β€” a dimly lit, Rat Pack-inspired space where lunch rolls into night. Expect old-school hospitality, blue leather booths, velvet curtains and soulful Italian dishes with a touch of theatre.

Enjoy Italian and Australian wines, classic cocktails, aperitifs and amaros designed for long lunches and late nights. Vinyl DJs and live jazz or soul set the mood throughout the week.

Located at Underground/68 King St, Sydney NSW 2000, Osteria Luna operates as an italian restaurant serving Sydney in New South Wales. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Eating out in Australia ranges from beachside takeaways to hatted dining rooms, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. If you have dietary needs, most kitchens will adapt a dish if you ask. Licensed venues serve alcohol; BYO places let you bring a bottle for a small corkage fee. Tipping is appreciated but never expected.

The business lists hours on 1 day of the week. The most common schedule is 12–3 pm. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (02) 9145 8068. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a mobile. Its website is osterialuna.sydney, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 176 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Sydney is in New South Wales, on Australia's east coast, where summers are warm and humid, winters are mild and businesses keep to standard hours year-round with the usual public-holiday changes. Traffic in Sydney peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the unit or street number up to the suburb, state and four-digit postcode; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The food was decent - we tried the vodka pasta and the rigatoni. I preferred the rigatoni as the vodka pasta was a bit too spicy for my taste. We also had some sides that were great. 30% off drinks when we went so that was a bonus. Recommend their earl grey drink. Service was very good, we had flowers and they gave us the ice tub to put the flowers in, it was also my birthday and they gave me a small madeleine. The atmosphere was very vibey. I would recommend for any celebrations or date night.

TABLE FOR ONE | Osteria Luna, Sydney πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Some tables are booked for birthdays. Some for anniversaries. Some for first dates. And sometimes… A table is booked for one. One of the things I’ve grown to appreciate about dining alone is that you notice everything. Without the distraction of conversation, you begin to experience a restaurant differently. You hear the soundtrack instead of it becoming background noise. You notice the rhythm of the room, the clink of glasses, the laughter from a nearby table, the quiet confidence of the waiters moving effortlessly between guests. There is something incredibly peaceful about simply… observing. No phone. No rush. No pressure to fill every silence. Just allowing yourself to be completely present. That was exactly how Osteria Luna felt. Hidden beneath The Charles in Sydney, it transports you into another era. Dim lighting, marble, velvet, brass, Italian hospitality and a soundtrack of jazz, soul and Italo disco that makes you want to order just one more drink and stay a little longer. On my table: πŸ₯‚ Aperol to begin. 🍷 A glass of the 2025 Oliver’s Taranga Vermentino from McLaren Vale. πŸ₯– Garlic focaccia. πŸ¦‘ Calamari fritti with zucchini

The interior and lighting created such a great atmosphere. The mocktails were spot on and every dish was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Huge thanks to the chef for taking the time to explain the dishes so well!!! The floor manager, staff, bartender and chef were all so friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Such a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it πŸ‘πŸΌ

Overall, so disappointed in this place. The food was definitely not worth the price at all. The atmosphere was okay nice and dark good for a girls night but I didn’t find anything there Impressive in the slightest. The staff got our order wrong twice which resulted in them giving us free drinks which was nice and added a star for sure ⭐️ honestly though I don’t think I’ll ever go again. There are some way nicer speakeasy type restaurants in Sydney for a fraction of the price but the quality of the service and food is exponentially better.

My fiancΓ©e and I had an incredible dinner at Osteria Luna on Saturday night, and it completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the intimate underground atmosphere took our breath away. The moody lighting, stunning decor, and a cozy yet elegant vibe that felt perfect for a special occasion. The service was genuinely outstanding. The food was excellent across the board, it was all beautifully presented, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. Those happy hour mini cocktails suprised us. And that was the best tiramisu we’ve had in a while. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Osteria Luna. Great underground Italian spot.
