I strongly do not recommend this hostel. Respect for other guests is unfortunately far from being a priority. It is common for some people to speak very loudly outside the bedroom doors late at night, making it almost impossible to sleep. I have also witnessed completely inappropriate behaviour, including people having sex in some of the rooms, which is unacceptable in shared accommodation where people live and sleep every day. The atmosphere is often noisy, with people drinking from Tuesday to Sunday and shouting in the hallways, even during the week. If you’re looking for a quiet place to rest, keep looking. I also noticed that accusations can be made without any verification or giving the people involved the opportunity to explain themselves. This lack of communication is regrettable, especially when even the manager of the hostel protects staff members who behave however they want. Another very disappointing point is that food and Tupperware containers can be thrown away without even trying to find out who they belong to. In my case, a Tupperware container had simply fallen out of my bag into the refrigerator while it was being cleaned, and it was thrown away without any ve

I was attracted by the good ratings and decided to stay on the first floor for 3 nights. Here is my genuine review: Kind Host and People The receptionist was very nice, and a gentleman even helped me with my heavy luggage proactively! I truly felt welcomed here. Also, the British girl who lived in the same room with me was very nice (she is a long-stayer too), and we had a brief, nice conversation. Cleanliness In terms of the environment, it does not quite live up to what the hostel's pictures show. The kitchen looks a bit filthy, as if it is rarely cleaned, and the common area floor feels greasy. The toilet is also old with obvious stains, and the shower drips water even after turning it off, which made it hard to change my clothes. On my first day of arrival, I also noticed a fairly strong smell in the hostel, and I believe it persisted throughout. The People & Vibe I did not know beforehand that there are so many long-stayers here on working holidays (or some other purposes?). I joined one social event with alcohol, but when I entered, people were already in different groups and seemed to know one another well. The hostel is overall pretty good: clean, well organized, and with a lively atmosphere. The staff and common areas make it a nice place to stay if you’re looking for something social. However, be prepared for very noisy nights. Despite the signs everywhere asking guests to keep quiet after 10pm, people regularly come back drunk and shout in the hallways every single night. Between roughly 1am and 4am, there is almost always noise and yelling, no matter which day of the week it is. So if you’re a light sleeper or hoping for restful nights, keep that in mind before booking.

Best Hostel in Sydney🤗 Stayed at Mad Monkey Downtown and it was actually a really good experience. Everything was super clean, which you don’t always get in hostels. Staff were all really friendly and easygoing. Location is perfect, you’re right in the city and can get everywhere super quickly. The Internet was also really fast.. Especially for the price it’s a really good deal. Best parts for me were the rooms, the kitchen, the fast WiFi and how central it is. Would definitely come back 👍
